One Year Ago: Intel shocked by Digital patents case

Intel responded this morning to Digital's shock announcement that it is taking the chip giant to the courts for infringing the latter's patents in Pentium and later processors.

"Our initial reaction is we were surprised by the lawsuit, particularly given the long-standing relationship between the two companies," said an Intel spokeswoman. "We plan to vigorously defend ourselves. We are now evaluating and reviewing the suit."
