Ousted Apple CEO Gil Amelio is mounting his latest, and most forceful attempt yet at rehabilitating his reputation - this time in a 298-page book called 'My 500 Days at Apple' that often takes swipes at Apple founder and current leader Steve Jobs.

Amelio blames Jobs for undermining his tenure and paints the Apple founder as vengeful, tempermental and self-aggrandizing.Though he declares he has no regrets and "hardly felt the bullet" that led to his ignominous departure, Amelio comes through himself as being very much wounded.

"I have worked through my disappointment in the way Steve Jobs treated me, but shall never forget the pain of it," he writes.

ZDTVs Jim Louderback adds:-

Amelio reserves his harshest judgment for Steve Jobs himself. Amelio says Jobs' "technical understanding only goes a micron deep." Most of all, though, Amelio feels that Jobs sold him down the river, sucking up to him in person, while manipulating the press and the board into firing him.

Ultimately he concludes that there are "two people inside the body of Steve Jobs," and that he is "obsessed with power (and) control," and a triumphant return to the company that he started. "I have worked through my disappointment in the way Steve Jobs treated me, but shall never forget the pain of it," he writes.
