Diana mourners send UK Web access soaring

As an example, sources said that the Yahoo! UK & Ireland search site received about 1.8 million page requests yesterday, close to treble the usual number of accesses.

Ralph Averbuch, producer for Yahoo! UK & Ireland, said that it was company policy not to disclose access figures but said that the site had received hundreds of e-mails from Web users wanting to know where to send condolence messages.

Yahoo! has responded by setting up a special area for Diana coverage.
