Cyrix plays down CEO's resignation

"The M2 is on schedule, the GX is shipping, we're on allocation, and this will be our best quarter ever in terms of 6x86 unit sales," said Cyrix UK managing director Brendan Sherry. "Jerry called about ten o'clock last night and said that after eight and a half years it was time to leave the operational side of the company. You'll see him driving the GX integrated processor side of the business."

Sherry said that financial pressures hadn't forced Rogers out ("If that was the case it would have been the end of the second quarter") and speculated that his successor could be someone with PC systems experience: "It could be someone used to dealing with board-level solutions ... maybe someone from the PC industry."
