Intel claims it has no desire to abandon the chip market for the Web 2.0 development, but it does allow researchers to experiment with web applications to get a sense of how demand for those applications will affect the processing requirements of future web servers and PCs. This mashup generator was created by researchers at a "lablet" partnership between Intel and the University of California, Berkeley. The goal was to make it easy for people to make mashups of popular web pages, such as Craigslist and Yelp, say if they want to look for apartments with popular restaurants nearby, said Robert Ennals, a senior researcher with Intel.
