E Ink announced on Tuesday that Intel has invested an undisclosed amount into the display company.

E Ink develops and markets an electronic paper screen technology that uses less power and offers a better picture than current flat-display technologies. The company will use funding from Intel Capital on research and development. Royal Philips Electronics is also an investor in the start-up.

The display technology is particularly noteworthy because some versions are flexible and can be rolled. The company is supplying Sony with electronic ink material used in the Librie e-book.
