News Burst: Ten sacked over 'lewd email'

Ten employees have been sacked and about 75 suspended at insurance company Royal and Sun Alliance (RSA) in Liverpool for distributing "lewd email". The emails featured a doctored picture of cartoon character Bart Simpson in a sexual clinch.

According to BBC Online, the sackings were reported to have started this week and the suspensions over the Christmas period.

A company source speaking to the Daily Telegraph accused the RSA of "an absurd over-reaction".

While full medical records may be of (dubious) value at rear/base medical facilities, these could be provided much simpler by either physical disk or electronic transfer to an "in theatre" database for individuals posted in. That £80m (and it's associated running costs) could have been far better employed in resuscitating a disbanded infantry battalion or providing a big boost in equipment quality and quantity.
