Every day ZDNet UK News will bring you two Nuggets -- one just before lunch and the other just before you leave the office. So if you want the latest news on the weird and wonderful gadgets that bless our beloved industry, bookmark ZDNet UK News -- and check out our Nuggets, twice a day.

At the end of the month we will provide a roundup of our favourite gadgets which you could win in our monthly Nuggets competition.

Get down wiv dem funky beats!

If you've taken advantage of the power of Nullsoft's Shoutcast streaming media, ditching your Technics for a PC, you'll want to check this out. The first official beta of SMP3P, an MP3 player especially for DJs, has just been released.

The player gives you full support for up to three soundcards by loading three instances of the same programme. The ‘two instances' mode lets you run one playlist, keeping you in control of starting each track, while the third instance mode lets you play tracks not included on that playlist without interfering with it.

Other DJ related features are promised as the player develops - watch this space.

Heard a rumour about a plan for a new gadget or software? Seen a device on your travels you'd like to know more about? Tell Nuggets and we'll get you the facts.

While full medical records may be of (dubious) value at rear/base medical facilities, these could be provided much simpler by either physical disk or electronic transfer to an "in theatre" database for individuals posted in. That £80m (and it's associated running costs) could have been far better employed in resuscitating a disbanded infantry battalion or providing a big boost in equipment quality and quantity.
