Voodoo3 hype begins

CEO of 3Dfx Greg Ballard said of the products: "We are resetting the bar for performance and delivering an exhilarating visual gaming experience."

The Voodoo3 2000 board will retail at around £99.00 and generate up to six million triangles and 286 Megatexels per second at resolutions of up to 2,048 by 1,536 pixels. The higher performing Voodoo3 3000 board will retail at around £149.00. A third board, Voodoo3 3500 has no price tag as yet.

Details of when the boards will be available will be announced soon.

While full medical records may be of (dubious) value at rear/base medical facilities, these could be provided much simpler by either physical disk or electronic transfer to an "in theatre" database for individuals posted in. That £80m (and it's associated running costs) could have been far better employed in resuscitating a disbanded infantry battalion or providing a big boost in equipment quality and quantity.
