Creative ships £279 DVD-ROM kit

The Singaporean firm's PC DVD Encore DXr2 is a DVD-ROM drive with bundled MPEG-2 card. The drive operates at a maximum 2x mode of 2,700Kbps and as a CD-ROM drive at up to 20-speed. The package costs £279+VAT list.

Creative said DVD momentum is building fast. "The games houses have finally come on board because they're seeing second-generation technology," said Jan Hauer, brand manager for the firm.
