Sony's CD Recordable File System (CD-RFS) makes saving files to a CD recordable drive even easier, the manufacturers say. Users can simply drag and drop files to an icon representing the drive and complete the recording process once the disk is full.

Sony believes the simplicity of the new software makes CD-R disks ideal for storage and backup. Users need to have the CD-RFS software installed in order to read the files but a read-only version is available and can be saved when the drive is formatted. The software supports multi-tasking and works across all major platforms.

A sample copy of the software can be downloaded from Sony's Web site.
