Orange will be the exclusive carrier for Toshiba's TG01 Windows Mobile handset, the operator announced on Thursday.

The TG01 is notable for having the widest high-definition touchscreen — measuring 4.1 inches — of any currently available phone. It also runs Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor, making it unusually powerful by current smartphone standards.

"We're really pleased to have teamed up with Toshiba to bring the TG01 exclusively to the UK," Francois Mathieu, Orange UK's director of devices, said in a statement. "We believe the TG01 is a prime example of manufacturer innovation, and is a device that is at the very top of its game, which will allow users to make the most from their mobile experience."

The TG01 will be free to customers who sign up for a two-year, £39.15-per-month contract and will be on sale by this weekend, according to Orange.
