The evolution of the mobile phone into a portable computer has led to a variety of interesting applications for the handheld device.

The Mobile Product or Service of the Year at the 2008 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards was won by BigHand Mobile BlackBerry Edition. A logical extension of the BlackBerry platform, this tool allows dictation files to be sent over the air to a server, rather than the person dictating having to return to the office to get documents typed out. The product promises to significantly streamline workflow for corporate customers.
