Unisys and NEC have signed an agreement which expands their collaboration to include enterprise unified-communications offerings.
Those offerings are intended to help clients integrate their voice and data networks to save on costs and improve collaboration.
As part of the agreement, Unisys will integrate NEC's Univerge IP architecture into its Communication and Collaboration (C&C) group of applications, which are based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Office Communications Server (OCS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).
The companies will be showcasing their collaboration in the US at the Unisys Convergence Center of Excellence (CCOE) in Reston, Virginia, as well as other labs. Combining Microsoft technology, Unisys services and NEC solutions, the centres will be open to customers so they can see how their telephony and IP networks could converge into a unified network.
The C&C Unisys portfolio that will be demonstrated at the CCOE will be unified messaging based on Exchange 2007, unified communications based on OCS, collaboration services based on MOSS and what Unisys calls a "convergence infrastructure roadmap workshop". Communication and collaboration business blueprinting will also be featured.
