Cisco is to rebrand and resell Great Bay Software's Beacon Endpoint Profiler as part of its NAC package.

Great Bay announced on Tuesday the non-exclusive deal, which is unusual in that Cisco does not tend to rebrand another manufacturer's appliances without buying the company first. Cisco will resell the product from August as the Cisco NAC Profiler.

The profiler ensures that devices connected to a network — including IP phones, wireless access points and network printers — meet the specified requirements for access, by providing endpoint data to the NAC system.

Nick Chong, Cisco's head of NAC appliances, said on Tuesday that Great Bay's product "enriches [Cisco's] overall NAC solution". The profiler consists of two functional components in the NAC Appliance package. The Profiler Server runs on a dedicated appliance, while the Collector Application is based on the Cisco NAC Appliance server.
