The actual access point is manufactured by 3eTI, which makes access points for the government and military. In this case, the Wi-Fi was used to transmit live video from inside the AppGate Mermaid competing in the Honda British Formula Four Stroke Powerboat championships.

The team's plan is to put more Wi-Fi kit on other boats and even on a helicopter.
