Manage your servers from a BlackBerry

Avocent, a company that makes software for managing IT infrastructure remotely, has announced that its platform now supports handheld devices including smartphones.
On Monday the company said its DSView 3 software would now let users remotely manage Windows-based servers from a mobile device such as a BlackBerry through the introduction of a mobile module. The module promises to provide security and logging of all activity for tracking and reporting, as well as management of Windows users, processes, Active Directory, Exchange Servers and server power.
"We continue to enhance the DSView 3 software platform to meet the changing needs of our customers... adding true mobile access and tight integration with a number of complementary products," said Steve Geffin, vice president of software product management at Avocent.
The company also announced on Monday that DSView 3 software would now be interoperable with HP OpenView, NetClarity, Uptime Devices and LANDesk Server Manager.
