Companies looking to hire workers skilled in RFID have their work cut out for them, according to a survey released on Tuesday by the Computing Technology Industry Association, CompTIA. Eighty percent of the survey respondents said the RFID talent pool is too small, and Two-thirds said training and educating their employees about the technology is one of the biggest challenges they face in competing in the RFID market.

The results of the survey are based on responses from 51 members of CompTIA, a global trade association composed mainly of computer services firms and computer manufacturers. CompTIA sells RFID training programs and certifications. RFID is a wireless monitoring and authentication technology that proponents tout as the next big wave in information technology.
