Orange roadshows to teach firms about 3G

UK mobile operator Orange is promoting its new high-speed mobile data service with a series of roadshows across the UK over the next few weeks.
The events are free to attend. Some are aimed at large enterprises while others target small businesses. Orange claims they will help companies to equip their staff with 3G data cards to allow them to access email, the Internet and corporate IT systems on the move.
Attendees from large companies will take part in a technical workshop on how to integrate 3G into their existing IT networks.
Small-company representatives will get a presentation from Orange on the benefits of mobile working. They will also hear a celebrity talk about issues like leadership, motivation and teamwork. Several famous names from the world of sport are lined up to speak, including Matthew Pinsent, Alan Hansen, Tracey Edwards, Rob Andrew, Jack Rowell and Karren Brady.
Orange unveiled its 3G services back in July, but the roadshows will mark the official nationwide launch.
Orange's 3G Mobile Office card, which was reviewed by ZDNet UK last month, costs up to £75 plus VAT per month. Orange claims its network already covers 66 percent of the population.
Other 3G data services are available in the UK. Vodafone was first to market with a service costing up to £85 plus VAT per month.
T-Mobile, whose offering includes Wi-Fi and 3G on its card, charges £70 per month for unlimited access.
