Airlines to be given go ahead in October

The final decision on whether foreign airlines will be allowed to fly into or out of the UK over the millennium period will not be made until October, it was revealed at a meeting detailing the progress made by key services in tackling the millennium bug.

Chairman of the transport steering group David Rolands is confident UK airlines will be millennium compliant by July, with air traffic control and UK airports already "operationally ready".
