Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has reacted strongly to a takeover bid by Computer Associates (CA) saying that "any suggestion that there have been negotiations or agreements between the two companies is absolutely false."

CA made a $9 billion bid for the California-based computer services and consultancy firm but CSC chairman Van Honeycutt has denied that it is a cut and dried deal and referred to the bid as "hostile."

In a statement to CSC employees he has denied having take over talks with CA but said that he would be considering the offer "very carefully" and act "in the best interest of shareholders."
