Senator John Kerry has conceded the presidential race, acknowledging President George W Bush's re-election, campaign spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said.
The Democratic challenger called Bush shortly after 8 am Pacific time to concede the contested Ohio returns and the overall presidential race, in a conversation that took less than 5 minutes, according to the Associated Press.
Kerry is expected to make a statement at 10 a.m. PT and an administration official said Bush would have a statement at noon PT.
